Since 2009 I have been ordained to marry couples, and it has been an honour to creating meaningful ceremonies that reflect the uniqueness of each couple I work with. During that time I was licensed as a revered minister, however recently I have decided to become ordained through my own spiritual tradition as a legally ordained Minister and I feel this reflects my offerings in a way that is closer to my heart and soul.
Further to this, I also am also certified through the prestigious Celebrant Institute where I was trained specifically in the art of creating sacred non-denominational ceremonies. This has given me a wonderful perspective, and respect for working with the wonderfully unique couples that have found me over the years. I have created ceremonies from pop up engagements, to burlesque weddings, intentional buddhist weddings, and all of the most wonderful offerings of ceremony in between! As a published author, shamanic healer, and deeply creative person, I find the process of working with people to create ceremonies one of the most powerful things there is. To say I love my job would be an understatement!
I discovered early in life that I was deeply drawn to discover my souls calling, and spent years training in holistic medicine, herbalism, nutrition and shamanic healing. During that time I channeled these pieces into my work as a birth doula and childbirth educator and ceremonialist. To me there is nothing more powerful then working with people during important life transitions. For years I created meaningful rites of passages and baby blessing ceremonies for families, attended births and taught prenatal classes, and then one day I was asked by some friends to perform the ceremony part of their wedding. I was thrilled, and the experience was so amazing that I knew there was no looking back.
As a dedicated mother to two children, and wife of 17 years I can attest to the importance of sharing life’s transitions with family and community. It is my greatest joy to create meaningful ceremonies that make a big impact on you and your cherished guests. Together we will mark the crossing of a threshold and celebrate this amazing life we all are given.
My intent is that your ceremony will include the things that you hold close to your heart, and that your guests come away having laughed, been misty eyed, and feeling closer to you than before.
What is a Spiritual Wedding?
I feel that the creation of a wedding ceremony is an important one, just as important as the music or food! My passion is in the creation of a sacred ceremony that is as unique as is your love for one another, and as such I have chosen to dedicate myself to only a few weddings per year so that every couple I work with receives my full attention and dedication. The components of a sacred wedding bring together my that which makes me unique as a minister with what makes you unique as a person, and together we will create the wedding ceremony that you have been dreaming of. My background spiritually is very earth based and I would say that I am an animist who have had intensive training in the shamanic realm, as well as a foundation going back many years in buddhism. I believe that whatever your belief system is, it has value and I strive to respect all who request my services.
What this means is that I will bring all my experience in ceremony creation along with who I am as a person to the table with respect and value placed firmly on the spiritual and sacred when it comes to your ceremony.
Same Sex Weddings:
I believe that everyone, regardless of gender, has the right to declare their love and commitment for their partner through marriage, period. I am deeply honored to work all couples who have chosen to make a public declaration of their commitment to one another. My experience within the LGBT community brings a sensitivity and understanding to my work as a minister, and together we can create a ceremony that reflects who you are. Whether you are gay, lesbian, transgendered, bi-sexual, gender fluid, or pansexual it matters not to me, as my goal is to create an experience that is sacred and memorable to you and your guests.
