Throughout history the heartbeat of a drum has been used in healing ceremonies and for personal healing. Making a drum can be a very powerful way to re-claim your medicine, as the sound carries our prayers, sorrows and joys straight to the source.
Drumming can awaken our soul memories, and open us up to the possibility of our own healing and wise inner knowing. This is a very peaceful place to reside.
If you feel ready to create your own a powerful medicine tool for healing, a drum is a wonderful place to start. “I have always had a fascination for drums, especially medicine drums. I have had the honor of being part of drum circles, on a drum borrowed from someone else. Still, I desired more, I wished to become one with a drum, to be its maker. This is a wonderful time to create a drum as the drum mimics the heart beat of the mother. Play your drum in labor. ~ Menopause, honoring your inner crone. ~ To mark the conclusion of a time or period in your life, such as divorce or moving. ~ To mark your healing journey from an illness or emotional pain.
You may want to gather together a few close friends who share the same call to make a healing drum and do it together. Groups should be no more then 6 people. I am happy to travel within the Lower mainland of Vancouver for this work. You may feel called to make one on your own privately. My home based studio is perfect for this work and is located in East Vancouver, I also travel within Vancouver if you prefer I come to you.
If you belong to an established group and would like me to come and do this workshop with you, or would like to gather together a group that is outside of Vancouver I am happy to travel if expenses are paid.
During our time together, you will create your own 14” elk skin drum and a beater. The fee is $250.00 per person and includes all supplies, drum and beater.
